7 Nevers for Curly Hair

7 Nevers for Curly Hair- Have curly hair? Here are some things you should NEVER do to your curly hair!
7 Things You Should Never Do to Curly Hair

There are some things you should NEVER do with curly hair. Follow these simple rules, and your curly hair will reach maximum fabulousness.

  1. NEVER brush your hair with a brush.

This ruins your hair and causes easy breakage. I suggest using your fingers or a wide tooth comb like Oiudad’s Wide Tooth Comb. Buy it here for $8.00.

2. NEVER run out of conditioner.

This is probably an obvious one, but just don’t do it. You will regret it. Your hair will be a frizzy mess and all the hydration will be taken away. I prefer Shea Moisture’s Curly Coconut & Hibiscus┬áconditioner. It is amazing! It moisturizes wonderfully without those nasty chemicals you find in other conditioners. For an extra treat, pair Paul Mitchell’s Awapuhi Shampoo w/ The Detangler.

3. NEVER use heavy gels, hairspray, or creams… or just any heavy product.

By using heavy products, you are weighing down your bouncy curls and decreasing their maximum beauty. Either use less of the product if you don’t want to buy something else, or purchase lightweight products like Paul Mitchell’s Sculpting Foam. It increases your bounce and takes care of frizz. I also like Frucits’ Sleek & Shine Anti-Humidity Smoothing Milk.

4. NEVER straighten you hair more than once in a week.

If you like to straighten you hair once in a while, I understand. Some of you may like to change things up. However, in order to retain your curls, you must minimize your heat usage. Blow dryers, straighteners, etc. These burn your hair and suck it of its moisture. Your hair will become more frizzy and your curls will start to become dull.

5. NEVER EVER EVER touch your hair.

This is a sacred rule. If you touch your hair, you will turn into a purple Minion from Despicable Me. Don’t let others touch. DON’T TOUCH IT. Did I already say that? Don’t. Touch. It.

6. NEVER scrub wet hair with a towel.

Scrubbing will cause frizz. Scrunch instead and use a cotton t-shirt to get excess water out. Also, you can use the DevaCurl Microfiber Towel or just buy a microfiber towel in the car accessory/cleaning section in a store.

7. NEVER regret having curly hair.

Your hair is unique, beautiful. God created you and He knew that curly hair was meant for you. #EmbracetheCurls
